Complex value-added services of sanitary fittings for the upmarket specialised trade

In the past financial year, Grieshaber Logistics Group AG was able to acquire a new customer from the "sanitary" sector, which manufactures innovative and resource-saving fittings and system solutions for private households, public buildings and the medical sector. This extensive project is being handled by the "Industry Solutions" business unit at the Hochrhein Logistics Park in Rheinfelden. The product range of the globally active new customer is delivered to the upscale specialised trade.

As part of the project implementation, 2,500 pallet spaces were set up for this purpose and an efficient packing line was created to be able to display the customer's extensive product range, which extends from small screws to large sinks. Demanding spot welding work is carried out in a special container, outside the logistics hall, in compliance with the applicable fire protection regulations.

Another challenge is the system-side handling of the extensive product variety, which is also required due to the fact that, for example, individual drillings for sinks already represent a separate article number. In order to be able to optimally integrate this amount of data, an extensive connection via web services between the customer's SAP S/4HANA and Grieshaber's warehouse management system was implemented. This makes it possible to transfer new article numbers within a few seconds.

Full transparency and the best possible automation are also achieved thanks to the system-side connection. The bookings of incoming goods, outgoing goods and returns are transferred between the systems in real time. Returns are fully documented in visualised form by means of a digital goods receipt log (SmapOne) and passed on in real time.

A further advantage of this project structure is that any bookings throughout the entire process generate a feedback message in XML format directly from Grieshaber's warehouse management programme to the customer, so that the stocks always match. For this purpose, nine interfaces were set up, which ensure that all the necessary information for the further transport route, such as dimensions, weights or tracking numbers, is automatically transmitted after order processing. This information (e.g. consignment status) is transmitted to the parties involved in order to create invoices and initiate the customs clearance process.

The planned growth and the resulting increase in space requirements can be realised at the Rheinfelden location. With a man-power of a total of 15 employees, we are pleased to be able to handle warehouse logistics, order picking, packing, dispatch and commercial processing with these special services in Rheinfelden.
