Donations instead of presents - Grieshaber supports the flood victims in the Ahr valley

The management of the Grieshaber Group was very pleased when the proposal of the personnel management was accepted by the staff to forego employee Christmas presents this year and instead donate this amount to two aid projects for the flood victims in the Ahr valley. In addition, this amount was increased by the company and by a voluntary collection campaign of the employees.

Specifically, two projects were supported: On the one hand, the victim assistance "Dorfgemeinschaft Bliesheim" and the Montessori Centre Mending.
The victim assistance project "Dorfgemeinschaft Bliesheim" provided immediate aid to the victims of the village of Bliesheim. The village of Bliesheim was hit by unprecedented flooding when the river Erft suddenly and unpredictably burst its banks, flooding almost the entire old village. Many Bliesheimers lost a large part of their belongings, some everything. The village community forwards 100% of the donations to the people who need help.

The Montessori Centre in Mending is a schoolhouse located twelve kilometres from Ahrweiler. Immediately after the disaster, the centre began to take in children and affected parents during the day and at weekends so that they could deal with the trauma in a safe environment. After school started, weekend care for affected children continued so that the parents could devote themselves to rebuilding their homes.
