Influencer - the secret rulers of social media

The term "influencer" was already known in the 17th century. At that time, the term was already used to describe heads of state and church who influenced and steered public opinion with their statements. Since the 2000s, the term has experienced a kind of come back and is more widespread than ever. Today, one even differentiates between five different types of influencers, such as key-influencers or social influencers. By addressing their respective audiences directly, they have an enormous reach through which they can address each follower directly.
