Innovation through knowledge management - Our customs services of the Customs & Trade Solutions (CTS) department

In logistics, the processing of data-related goods flows is just as important as the management and processing of physical goods. By means of innovative approaches, we have managed to optimise these complex data flows and generate sustainable added value in the field of modern customs logistics. Our "Customs & Trade Solutions" department makes it possible to generate partially and fully automated customs processes, among other things, and offers fully comprehensive customs management as a further component in the service portfolio of Grieshaber Logistics Group AG.

"It only takes a few more minutes to validate the data and print the export accompanying documents," says Ulf Tonne, the Grieshaber Logistics Group AG board member responsible for the Industry Solutions business division and the Customs & Trade Solutions department attached to it.

Several customers are already using the new customs services, which, thanks to a fully automated end-to-end interface between the warehouse management system and the customs clearance software linked to Atl@s and E-dec, make it possible to process shipping orders within a short time.

In practice, it looks like this: Using the customer's ERP system, the order data for the consignments is transmitted to Grieshaber. All shipments that leave the warehouse on the same day are collected and summarised via a so-called daily closing. This daily closing triggers an automatic batch run in the IT lead logistics management system. Here, the order data is aggregated and the data relevant for customs clearance is added. Validation is then carried out fully automatically by the customs clearance software used by Grieshaber, which then forwards the validated data via an interface to the Atl@s system of the German customs authorities. After release, the export accompanying documents are transmitted via our lead logistics management system to the responsible employee at Grieshaber to be printed and then handed over to the driver.

Not only the export process could be solved in the Customs & Trade department. The import procedure has also been optimised. After the export has been handed over, the customs data for the Swiss import is aggregated and transmitted via the customs software to the E-dec system of the Swiss customs administration. The basis for this is an online customs database filled by the customer and provided by Grieshaber.

But the Custom & Trade department also creates added value for our customers through other services. Amongst other things, Grieshaber maintains several customs warehouses and storage depots, provides customs advice, undertakes the preparation, checking and monitoring of long-term supplier declarations, carries out preference calculations and offers simplifications in the collection of duties through its own deferral accounts for customs duties and import VAT.

Thanks to this range of customs services, we not only optimise and accelerate our customers' customs clearance processes, but also increase process security through the use of validated systems.
