Leading manufacturer of actuators and valve gearboxes takes advantage of Grieshaber's breathing resources and high diversification of commercial vehicles

At our recently expanded location in Müllheim (Baden), we were able to acquire a new customer in the industrial sector. The internationally leading manufacturer of drives and gearboxes for industrial valves has been active on the market for over 50 years and operates worldwide.

The motives for using a logistics service provider were, in addition to the variabilisation of logistics costs, the optimal (utilisation) of the existing infrastructure (such as storage space and vehicle availability) as well as the introduction of specialist innovations with regard to digitalisation within the scope of inventory management by means of a modern warehouse management system and the latest scanning technology.

The tasks taken on by Grieshaber within the scope of this new project are the warehousing of semi-finished products, raw parts and spare parts as well as the use of shuttle transports with different vehicles. This means that commercial vehicles of various types are used, such as vehicles with lifting platforms, small vehicles but also vehicles for the lateral loading/unloading of long parts. The special feature here is not the vehicle itself, but that such a diversity of different types of commercial vehicles is required and must be available within the framework of a project. This is necessary in order to supply the large number of suppliers and subcontractors regularly and safely.
All flows of goods are coordinated in cooperation with the client, as in addition to securing the assembling suppliers and subcontractors, the manufacturer's own three plants must also be regularly supplied with and disposed of their semi-finished goods. The challenge for Grieshaber in this project is the reliable control of goods transports, warehousing and just-in-time deliveries to the manufacturer's own plants.

Of course, all this is done in compliance with the high quality requirements. The digitalisation of the information flow is ensured by suitable IT systems. For example, an automated monthly performance report is created so that a flexible and timely response can be made in the event of deviations.
This new project presents us with new challenges in the context of industrial goods supply. We are pleased about the trust placed in us by our new customer!
