Serialisation for companies in the pharmaceutical industry - one year later!

Since February 2019, the EU Directive 2011/62/EU, which came into force in February 2019, has obliged companies operating in the pharmaceutical sector to mark each packaging of a prescription drug with a serial number to enable unique identification.

In order to comply with the EU directive, which is intended to guarantee protection against counterfeiting, Grieshaber has developed and successfully implemented various conceptual measures and connection variants in consultation with its customers. IT interfaces and operational processes have been adapted, and new hardware for recording and processing the 2D data matrix codes has also been successfully implemented.

By bringing in our logistical know-how, we were able to support our customers in the integration, taking into account their existing structures, and by providing resources, we were able to enable a short-term implementation.
