Think economically, act sustainably – the dual responsibility of logistics
As a family-run company headquartered in Bad Säckingen, the Grieshaber Group sees itself not only as a service provider, but also as a responsible and reliable partner along the entire supply chain. With clear goals, concrete measures and a strong foundation of values, the company is actively shaping the climate-friendly supply chain of tomorrow.
In this article, the Grieshaber Group explains which goals have already been achieved and which are still to be achieved.
Strategic foresight and innovative solutions on the path to a climate-friendly supply chain
Today more than ever, the logistics industry is caught between the conflicting demands of efficiency and sustainability. As the backbone of global value chains, it has a dual responsibility: to operate successfully economically while also meeting environmental and social standards. The Grieshaber Group impressively demonstrates how this balance can be achieved – with a clear understanding of values, innovative technologies and a deeply rooted commitment to sustainability. It already meets all the requirements for CSRD-compliant sustainability reporting in accordance with ESG criteria – and thus transparently documents its environmental, social and corporate responsibility towards stakeholders and society.
Climate protection as a strategic goal
The Grieshaber Group has set itself ambitious targets: by 2035, CO2 emissions in the transport sector are to be reduced by 85%, and the company is even aiming for net-zero emissions in warehousing by 2035. Sustainability is being put into practice through measures such as switching to biogas and electric trucks, using e-fuel (HVO), expanding photovoltaic systems and optimising route planning by bundling supply chains with so-called ‘gateway concepts’. Successful certification to ISO 50001 in 2025 underlines the company's systematic energy management and continuous improvement in energy efficiency. In addition, Grieshaber was honoured with the silver medal on the renowned ECOVA DIS platform – one of the world's leading sustainability assessment platforms – in the same year. This award confirms the positive development and strategic orientation of Grieshaber's sustainability strategy in the areas of environment, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement.
Highlights:

- Grieshaber programmes ‘CLEAN Company’ and ‘Green Property’
- Highly efficient lighting systems (LED) and building technology
Ethics and transparency as guiding principles
The Grieshaber Group practises a value-based management model, which is reflected in a clear code of conduct, a whistleblower system and active supplier management. Digitalisation is used not only as a driver of efficiency, but also as a lever for sustainable processes – for example, through secure IT infrastructures, automated training systems and the use of telematics systems.
